DIPOLOG CITY- In an effort to bring Mindanao to global tourism this year, Department of Tourism (DOT), with the help of Zamboanga del Norte 1st District Representative Seth Frederick Jolosjos, will work with the Department of Justice and Bureau of Immigration to fast-track the conversion of Dipolog Airport into an international airport. This is as mentioned in a Rappler article dated January 01, 2017.
DOT, along with other government agencies, will also work with the private sector which is mainly the driving force of tourism. As of recently, Dipolog Airport serves Zamboanga del Norte and nearby areas. The airport also caters Dapitan City where it is reported that more than 1,200 Chinese tourist visiting the city this year.
"We will bring Mindanao to global tourism this year." Tourism Assistant Secretary Frederick Alegre said.
