More than 100,000 jobs are expected to be open as for construction of the long-delayed Mindanao railway. This is according to Datu HJ. Abul Khayr Alonto of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa) during Wednesday's Hapi at Kape at Abreeza Ayala Malls on January 25. Accordingly, feasibility study is already taken and construction is eyed to commence this year.
However, around 20,000 jobs will be for the Chinese since high-technical knowledge is required for the said jobs. The remaining 80% will be available for all Filipinos. The said 100,000 jobs is just for construction phase, and another set will be opened for railway operation.
It can be recalled last year that Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade eyed to award the contract before 2017 ends. Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia earlier said China, Japan and Korea were interested in financing the project. But in a Sunstar article published last January 26, 2017, Mindanao Development Authority announced that it will be the Chinese who will fund the project.
Keep posted for more update regarding Mindanao Railway Project. We in MEB News will be keen on following the development of this long-delayed project.
