DAVAO CITY- Philtram Chief Operating Officer and spokesperson Jose Guardo Jr. announced that the transportation company Philtram, under Maglev Vision Corporation, proposed to construct the city's long-dreamed monorail system. This was during Monday's Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao Annex held on January 23, 2017. The company, accordingly, will present the project to the City Council for review and approval within this month.

In a news article written by Jennie P. Arado in SunStar Davao, it has been mentioned that the first phase will cover SM Lanang to Southern Philippine Medical Center going towards Abreeza until Roxas while the second phase will be from the proposed Duterte Central Station going to Quezon Boulevard towards Magsaysay and near Agdao flyover.

It can be recalled that the Koreans, who first got interested with the project, had already backed out last year. However, a Chinese came to express interest to team up with a local developer for the project. The local developer mentioned could have been Philtram given the company will work with China Railway Engineering Corporation which will be in charge of the railway construction.

A feasibility study will be conducted once proposal will be approved.
