LTFRB reveals the registration of at least 15 taxicab franchises for Zamboanga City. Accordingy, nearly 60% of the registration process has been completed and it is projected that they might start operations next month.

LTFRB also expresses their concerns for the tricycles with regards to giving the taxis leeway to allow them in major highways. The agency reminds that taxis should operate on those major roads while tricycles will be limited to key areas with terminal as for their drop-off points to their passengers.

It can be recalled that the first Yellow Taxi units were introduced in Zamboanga in 1963. It was seven years after that a new mode of transportation had been introduced, and the taxi operators had become unable to compete.
