DAVAO CITY- The fare is estimated to be P10 standard rate and P1 per additional kilometer - this is just one of Philtram's proposal for Davao Monorail System which had been one of the city's must-haves for a long time already. Last Monday, January 23, 2017, China Railway Engineering Corporation consultant Jiang Zhiping and Philtram Chief Operating Officer and spokesperson Jose Guardo Jr. announced interest to build the said railway system.
Accordingly, the first phase will cover SM Lanang to Southern Philippine Medical Center going towards Abreeza until Roxas. The coaches, which will be manufactured in China by the state-owned companies China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, will have eight coaches that can carry around 125 passengers per coach. It will accommodate cargo and logistics operations as well as it will be designed to carry 700 kilograms to 1 ton per square meter of wieght.

“We just want to maximize the efficiency of our system. At least, the cost will be subsidized by the cargo and the logistics. The income will be much higher with the cargo and logistics as part of the equation. We can have the train go near the airport, port areas, and even processing zones and mall,” Guardo said.
In the same news article written by Jennie P. Arado in SunStar Davao, Philtram is said to put up air-conditioned “mini-malls” with free wifi in each station that can also function as tourist destination. The second phase will be from the proposed Duterte Central Station going to Quezon Boulevard towards Magsaysay and near Agdao flyover. There will also be a so called Duterte Central Station which will connect the first phase and the second phase.
