13 days after the 6.7 magnitude earthquake last February 10, the damaged runway of Surigao airport was declared open for commercial operations.
This was announced by Department of Transportation (DOTr) in their Facebook page last February 23, 2017. CAAP Deputy Director General for Operations Capt. Manuel Antonio “Skee” Tamayo cited that a 1000-meter length out of 1700-meter Surigao Airport runway was declared usable and safe for aircraft operations.

The airport was temporarily closed due to damaged runway. DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and CAAP officials last February 22 inspected the Surigao airport to inspect the partially renovated runway to check the progress of repairs of the damaged airport terminal complex. Here's the comparison posted in the said Facebook page.
