ZAMBOANGA CITY- Signed by City Mayor Maria Isabelle G. Climaco, Zamboanga City, in a letter addressed to President Rodrigo Duterte, sought to the return the Regional Center status from Pagadian City. It can be recalled that on December 22, 2010, former Executive Secretart Pacquito Ochoa, Jr., issued Memorandum Circular No. 11 for the transfer of all regional offices from Zamboanga City to Pagadian City.
The City Government of Zamboanga insisted on the letter that factors such as economic, social, urban services, accessibility, adequacy of facilities, and quality of services provided make Zamboanga City the most-strategic location for a regional center.
As of recently, several regional offices have already sprouted in Pagadian City. These are, but not limited to, DENR 9, DepEd Region 9, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), PhilHealth Regional Office, and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). The letter aims for regional offices to return to the biggest city in Zamboanga region, Zamboanga City. Read the Zambaonga City's letter below.
