Located in the midst of the hidden mini-forest of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, Tagbilat Falls, popular among locals but yet to be discovered by tourists, becomes a new summer craze in province of Zamboanga Sibugay not just because of its funny name that is a vernacular term of the private part of a woman, but also because of its natural beauty that gets a 5-star rating in TripAdvisor.
To get there, you can catch a Dipolog-bound bus from Ipil going to Titay terminal. From the terminal, a 'habal-habal' can bring you to Tagbilat River in Malagandis for 25 minutes costing P140.00, round-trip. According to thelakwatsero of Instagram, you can pay the driver to guide you along the trek towards the waterfalls.
According to Giagie's review in Trip Advisor, Tagbilat Falls is one of the best series enchanting waterfalls she have ever seen. "Unspoiled Malagandis Falls (Tagbilat Falls)...worth the long travel!" she wrote. Another review of beckmasacupan in Trip Advisor compares Tagbilat falls to Tinuy-an falls of Bislig, Surigao del Norte/ Curtain falls of Baganga, Davao del Norte and Lulugayan falls of Calbiga, Samar.
According to locals, the waterfalls got its name from the river that flows from the municipality of Titay to Ipil. The river is a bit shallow and its depth reaches up to the private parts of a woman or “bilat” in the local dialect.
